What to Do at Snowshoe Ski Resort

In the appropriately named town of Snowshoe, West Virginia there exists an amazing resort of the same name. Vacationers flock to Snowshoe ski resort for many reasons, including the beautiful scenery and fun activities. While this resort is open year-round, most people prefer to visit during the winter. That's because there are 57 slopes and trails, 14 of which stay open for night skiing.

No matter what kind of skiing you enjoy, you'll find the perfect trail at Snowshoe. There are gentle, well-groomed runs for beginners, as well as thrilling expert slopes. You'll also find great snowboarding at areas like the Mountaineer Terrain Park, which features lots of rails, kickers and a thrilling half-pipe. This terrain park is in the Ruckus Ridge area, which also offers the five lane Ruckus Ridge tubing park. If you need instruction, Snowshoe has group and private classes for all ages. Snow Monsters is a learning program for kids that teaches them the basics of skiing and snowboarding in a fun way. There are also competitive teams at the resort, such as the Junior Ski Race Team and the Park and Pipe Team.

Winter sports aren't all you'll discover at Snowshoe. The Vantage Spa and Fitness center offers luxurious treatments like massages and aromatherapy, as well as state of the art exercise machines. The whole family will love Split Rock Pools, a swimming area that offers pools, hot tubs, and saunas for guests to enjoy. There's all kinds of shopping in the area, including equipment shops like Full Tilt Snow Style and Skate. Need some reading material? Check out Pulp and Paper, a fantastic bookstore and newsstand. There are lots of great restaurants at Snowshoe that offer everything from fast food to gourmet fare. For your morning coffee fix, you can head to Starbucks. The Junction Restaurant is a popular locale for lunch and dinner, offering great food in a fun railroad inspired environment. If pizza is a favorite food, then you've got to try the dishes at the Cheat Mountain Pizza Company. When you're ready for fun after dark, you can choose from an assortment of hot spots like Bear's Den, The Hole in the Wall Pub, Ember and the Comedy Cellar.

After you've experienced a full day of adventure at the Snowshoe ski resort, you'll love turning in for the night in your luxurious accommodations. There are condos and townhomes in various areas around the resort that offer amazing luxury and comfort for any size group, no matter how small or large.
